coping through connecting
The following quotes are from Revive kids when asked how separation or divorce has affected them:

Sierra, 13 says "I find that since the divorce, I have to beg harder for the things I want. My parents no longer live off two incomes and both are constantly saying that they can't afford things and usually tell me to ask the other parent."

Keisha, 11 says, "I have had to adjust to the "back and forth" between two houses with different rules. I'm always finding that the clothes or accesories I need are at the other parents house."

Kieth 7, says, "I'm sad, but glad that I still have fun with both of them. I can no longer see my parents at the same time, we no longer do things together. I miss my parents when we are apart."

Revive promotes a healthy family life and focuses many of its services and activities on children. The effects of divorce and separation on children has been a topic of much discussion, research, and debate for many years. Each child of a broken family is effected differently. Revive works with the family unit to assess their needs and make referrals as needed.

One of the ways that Revive seeks to help children through this difficult time is connecting them with other children dealing with similar issues. Children are often in a position to bring harmony and peace to an otherwise turbulent family life. Parents share a mutual love and respect for their children and this bond is often a major factor in keeping them grounded and more likely to make positive decisions.
