Tom Wilkens, RYI, RYT, is a 1998 graduate of the Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and Certification Program at the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago, one of the oldest and most well-respected yoga centers in the country. His primary teachers in the program were William Hunt, Diane Dombeck and Kim Schwartz.

He is currently enrolled in the Temple's Advanced Teacher Training Program. Upon completion in July 2005, he will be certified as an instructor at the 500-hour level. He is also a student in the Yoga Research and Education Center's extensive 2-year distance learning course, where he is advised by Georg Feuerstein.

Tom's past and present studies at the Temple include the philosophy and methodology of Kriya yoga, with an emphasis on cultivating a personal meditation practice.

Tom is a member of The Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

He currently teaches at health clubs, on college campuses and for the Park District of Oak Park, and takes his "mobile yoga" service to small groups of friends and neighbors for classes in the comfort of their homes. He gives customized yoga instruction and therapeutic applications of asanas to individuals in his practice space.

Tom continues to expand and enhance his own yoga practice and teaching abilities by studying regularly with established teachers grounded in different yoga styles and traditions. He works consistently in the practice of ashtanga, incorporating its vigorous style into his own "PowerFlow" classes. He enjoys the blend of strength developed over decades of weightlifting and cardio training with the flexibility gained through regular asana practice.

know.
know your body.
know that you are not your body.
know that you are in your body.
when you move your body,
know that you move your body.
from that place of mindful movement,
open to your Self.
know Who you are.
