WE HAD OUR OWN APPEAL

We were meant to have the carpets professionally cleaned. They needed it!

But our priorities changed when we heard of the plight of so many people. We could manage with the carpets just being vacuumed, and the money we were about to spend began an appeal where people were encouraged to see what they were about to spend and then decide if they could do without.

Over $1000 was raised, as well as many donations of clothing and other goods.

Within our congregation we have some Sri Lankan families, so our connection with this tragic event is more than just "television compassion"

The carpets still need a good clean, but we can do without in order to help those who don't even have a floor, never mind a carpet, dirty or otherwise.
AND OUR YOUTH ROCKED

We it might not have been LIVE AID, but the Youth Committee of the parish sponsored a "LIVE AID" type concert in the parish centre on Sunday 23rd January.

Reggie and his friends, got together and organised a rock concert. At an entry donation of a MINIMUM of $5 per person, all the proceeds of the evening were added to the already collected monies from the parish, to help the victims of the tsunami.
