Basic - This beginner course takes a rider who has never ridden a motorbike to a level where they can safely commute.

· Aims of basic training
· Safety equipment and clothing
· Eyesight check
· Motorcycles and their controls
· Basic safety checks and use of stands
· Wheeling the motorcycle and braking to a stop
· Starting and stopping the engine
· Riding in a straight line and stopping
· Slow riding
· Using the brakes
· Riding in a figure-of-eight
· Changing gears
· Emergency stopping
· Rear observation
· Turning left and right at junctions
· U-turns
· Riders brief prior to on-road training
· Practical on-road training using bike-to-bike radios, so your instructor can warn of potential hazards. In this element we will practice the following:

Road positioning

Weather conditions
This is an approved AON/AXA rider training course, and so the rider benefits from appreciably lower insurance rates.
